3D Arai logo duct, just 3.5 mm in depth, feeds two central 10 mm intake ports and works well at low speed and with an upright riding position. It can be opened or closed easily with summer or winter gloves via a short-stroke lever placed at the top — if the rider can't see the lever and the logo is in its normal place, the duct is open. The logo duct is designed to breakaway in the event of an impact. An aerodynamic rear spoiler with a one-piece exhaust function, operated by a 3-way switch and inspired by race-proven designs but redesigned for touring use, sits slightly forward on the shell and is fed by three ports that efficiently draw air, smoothing airflow over and from the side of the helmet to improve stability and reduce buffeting at highway speeds. Manufactured as thin and light as possible, the rear spoiler is also designed to crush or break away on impact so it has no influence on protective performance.
A 3-position (open, midway and closed) sliding air-scoop chin vent flows a large intake volume of air and includes a replaceable filter; the sliding chin vent actuating mechanism is thicker and easy to use with gloves. The shell exterior is designed to accept and connect a communication system without compromising the inner EPS liner, and a small stitched opening on the inside of the neck roll lets an intercom installer neatly tuck away excess wiring. Outer shell lines form a stylish, organic shape and use Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction (PB-cLc2) for lightweight strength with integrated side ducts. An extra layer of superfiber belting in the shell maintains rigidity where it matters while offering flat sides for easy intercom fitment. With the Variable Axis System (VAS), the visor mounting position is lowered, yielding an average of an additional 24 mm across the temple areas for a smoother shape that increases the ability to glance off energy. Shell flares 5 mm around the opening to make it easier to put on and remove the helmet.
