3D Arai logo duct, just 3.5 mm in depth, feeds two central 10 mm intake ports — the logo duct works well at low speed and with an upright riding position and can be opened or closed easily with summer or winter gloves via a short-stroke lever placed at the top* (if the rider can't see the lever and the logo is in its normal place, the duct is open). The logo duct is designed to break away in the event of an impact. An aerodynamic rear spoiler with one-piece exhaust function, operated by a 3-way switch and inspired by the DF-X2 but redesigned for touring use, sits slightly forward on the shell and is fed by three ports to efficiently draw air, smooth airflow over and from the side of the helmet, improve stability and reduce buffeting while overtaking at highway speeds — reducing rider fatigue. Manufactured thin and light, the rear spoiler is designed to crush or break away upon impact so it does not influence protective performance.
Breathability is boosted by a 3-position (open, midway and closed) sliding air-scoop chin vent that delivers a large intake volume and includes a replaceable filter; the sliding actuating mechanism is thicker and easy to use with gloves. The outer shell outlines a stylish, organic shape using Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction (PB-cLc2) for lightweight strength and integrated side ducts. An extra layer of super fiber belting maintains rigidity in a crucial area while offering flat sides for easy fitment of an intercom system. Designed to fit and connect a communication system on the shell exterior without compromising the inner EPS liner, and with a small stitched opening inside the neck roll to tuck away excess wiring after installation. With Variable Axis System (VAS) the visor mounting position is lowered, yielding an average of an additional 24 mm across both temple areas to improve glancing-off energy. Shell flares 5 mm around the opening to make it easier to get the helmet on and off.
