this tool is a lifesaver! i had my Shift linkage slip and lock up my Gear box inside the engine case (due to an old issue that actually has a recall) and since my bike is so old, they wouldn't do the recall - so i got the kit to do it and it was super easy to do myself! and you do NEED this if you are going to muck about in there (like installing the factory pro lighter centering spring) other wise your linkage will slip and lock up
