Overview

BRAKE TECH RACE ROTORS

  • NOTE: Non ABS models only, for ABS models, see BTA221R / BTA221RS

These remarkably lightweight and patented full-floaters weigh in at a stealthy 640g to 680g, depending on application.  Unique in design and appearance, the AXIS rear floaters will be a limited premium line intended for late model European and select Japanese Sportbikes (for use with OE calipers).

Incorporating our patented floating architecture which is the hallmark of our AXIS front floaters, these lightweight 100% billet units weigh at 10-35% less than the OE units.  All of the considerable braking forces are channeled through the trademarked Direct-Link™ architecture, comprising over an 800% increase in surface area load transfer as compared to conventional floating brake rotors…simply far superior by design!

Our race-spec ductile iron units improve overall brake response with not just more power but strategically, considerably improved control and modulation at the brake pedal (as well as reducing brake drag).  Granted, rear brakes have historically not been a significant player in the Sportbike market, but never before has a truly innovative full-floating rotor been developed and targeted for this application.  With it’s distinctive design, improved performance parameters and huge weight reduction, we bring an entirely new dimension to this element of braking technology.  Intended for use with OE calipers, the new AXIS/Rear floaters will be offered for nearly all late model European and select Japanese Sportbikes.

NOTE: Requires rear wheels with “Post” type mounting face that allows adequate space for the bobbins to extend through the backside of the center carrier.

Will not fit on the following OE rear wheels (without user end modification to the wheel) but rather are intended for use with the full range of Aftermarket wheels employing the OE mounting pattern:

    • Honda CBR's
    • Suzuki GSX-R’s
    • Yamaha YZF-R1 & R6

SPECIAL NOTE: All Japanese Sportbikes with Nissin calipers require a small amount of relieving of the OE caliper bracket to provide clearance for the floater button flangehead. The all-new AXIS Rear Floaters are the perfect upgrade for those moving to the higher performance Brembo HPK Billet rear caliper conversion kits.

DUCATI 1098/1198 and HyperMotard, M1100, 848 series includes the requisite speedo sensor triggers.

IMPORTANT FITMENT NOTE: The ABS sensor ring of the 4-hole mount models must be relieved around the bobbin area in order to allow space for the OE sensor ring to sit flush on the carrier.

Axis/Cobra Stainless Rotors have are Petal Cut (wave) Blade and the Axis/Iron are Round Blade

AXIS/Iron Black GunKote: This is a rust inhibiting coating which is thermally bonded on to minimize corrosion.  It must be cleared from the pad sweep area before the rotors become fully functional. Iron provides a higher coefficient of friction over stainless, with more feel and feedback at the brake lever.  But get them wet – they’re going to rust.  If you’re a fair weather rider, then it’s a non-event and not an issue.  However, if you ride distances where inclement weather is a definite possibility, you’re better off with our AXIS/Cobra stainless steel series in the optimized petal design.

    Entirely made in the U.S.A.

Red Buttons are standard (blue and black optional).

Brake Pad recommendations: utilize either the Ferodo Platinum organic or for a more responsive rear brake, the HH-rated SinterGrip ST brake pads.

I installed this BrakeTech floating rear rotor (stainless version) on my 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 and it fit up great and looks amazing. The bike has front BrakeTech floating rotors and wanted to the rear to match. Now that it is installed, I can say it wasn't simply a cosmetic improvement. The rear brake seems to have much more initial bite. The quality of the rotor is unmatched and it's worthwhile upgrade over the standard heavy fixed rotor. BrakeTech mentions that stock rear caliper bracket may need modification to clear the brake disc buttons. I can't say for certain if it's needed for the K5/K6 GSX-R 1000. I have an aftermarket rear caliper bracket and I didn't have any clearance issues.

Braketech is in my opinion, the top of the food chain when it comes to break parts and rotors. These rear petal rotors are amazing and the floating technology is unique and makes them even more amazing and better functioning for performance and speed and hard use. My K5's entire breaks setup is all Braketech products and they perform awesome and were worth every penny I paid for them. They are built like a tank and will perform for many years to come!
